Diet and Exercise Plan

Whatever your reasons are for losing weight, diet and exercise go hand In hand.  Finding the right dietdiet and exercise plan and exercise plan for you is now your mission.  I’m not going to waste your time telling you why things didn’t work in the past and try to guess everything you’ve tried already.  We’ve all been there.  It doesn’t matter why it didn’t work.  Let’s find something that does.

Diet

Let’s start with the diet part of the diet and exercise plan.  You have to change how you eat.  There are plenty of good foods out there.  We have our favorites but believe it or not, we can go without a lot of them.  We put all that butter and sour cream on our baked potatoes but why?  Because it tastes better that way.  Can we live without the butter and sour cream?  Of course we can.

Weigh the pros and cons to what we eat.  Can I eat that hamburger without the bun or at least without the mayo?  Yes.  Will it make me happy?  Not while you’re eating it but ten minutes after you’ve eaten, do you look back and say “Man I wish I’d have put mayo on that burger.”  I have never done that, but I have looked back and said, “Man I wish I hadn’t put mayo on that burger.”

You never look back and say I wish I wouldn’t have eaten that healthy meal.  But quite often you look back and say I wish I wouldn’t have eaten that unhealthy stuff.  I’m not saying you can never eat that stuff again, I’m just saying see if you can get by without it because the sun will come up tomorrow.

Exercise

The exercise part of the diet and exercise plan is in some ways easier.  It’s easier because there are so many things we can do at home, where we stumble is finding the time or finding the ambition.  Usually if we pay for a trainer or a gym fee, then we feel we have to go because we spent the money and money doesn’t grow on trees.

We need a different mindset if you’re going to do this at home.  It’s free and I can do it every chance I get.  It’s just like water.  We won’t drink it free from the tap but we can’t get enough of the stuff we pay for.

Some of us need to be pushed by a trainer or the fact that we paid for a gym membership.  And that’s fine.  That’s why they’re there.  But also take advantage of the free stuff.  A jump rope, a walk, jog, sit ups, push ups, swimming, dancing, or even a $5.00 hoola hoop.  Invest in a hoola hoop and work that waist in ways sit ups and crunches can’t do.

The Plan

Now we have to put those two together and come up with a diet and exercise plan.  There are many options on the market and any of them will work.  The problem is sticking to it.  If you need help with choosing the foods, then by all means get it.  The same with exercise.  But get in the right frame of mind.  Realize that what you’ve been doing hasn’t worked so give the diet and exercise plan a try and stick with it.  You can do this.
